It’s been awhile since my review of Luna Mercato’s Strawberry Barbecue Sauce - more than enough time to let give my tastebuds a break from fruity BBQ sauce. In general, I’m just not a big fan of the category. While there are certainly stand-outs (the sauce formerly known as Carribean Calypso for example), there’s a lot of mileage in between the stars.

Grandville’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce - Tropical (5/5)
I think a lot of companies get the execution of fruit-based BBQ sauces wrong. The concept of eating barbecue sauce with fruit is a bit odd for some who are used to garden variety (no pun intended) sauces that don’t taste much like typical fruits and vegetables.

BBQ Stu’s Barbeque Sauce - Original (4/5)
Psalm 34:8 says “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” The words “Psalm 34:8″ also sit on the side of this BBQ sauce. I wonder how long it took these guys to comb through the psalms to find a fitting reference for their BBQ sauce?

Caribbean Calypso Island Hoppin’ BBQ Sauce & Dip (5/5)
By now, only on my third review for BBQ Sauce Reviews, I’m startin’ to notice a lot of g’s missin’ in the packagin’. I guess it’s how most of these sauces are marketed - as kinda casual and fun - as the process of grilling and eating BBQ’d foods is inherently fun.
