Rufus Teague Honey Sweet (5/5)

25 September 2011 ~ 0 Comments

It’s got a combination of great ingredients, molasses-dark flavor, and soy/Worcestershire added for that extra savory umami dimension. Nice. A smooth, dark, molasses-based sauce with the same base as Rufus Teague’s Touch of Heat without as much A1-style tang making it a bit less complex – but still a very solid contender in the category. It’s still enough to be given my highest rating.

Guy Fieri Bourbon Brown Sugar Barbeque Sauce (5/5)

09 June 2011 ~ 0 Comments

The trick is (I think) to make it a subtle yet noticeable characteristic whereas a trace of the marketed fruit component remains in the forefront of the sauce flavor profile. The sauce is a great mix of tang, peach, chipotle, and traditional bbq sauce.

No Naked Meat BBQ Sauce (3/5)

23 March 2011 ~ 0 Comments

The flavor is like that of a vinegary ketchup with lots of brown sugar. It is very sweet out of the bottle and the molasses within the brown sugar adds an almost caramel-like flavor to the base of the sauce. On the chicken this tasted a bit candy-like, and I found it to be a little too sweet for regular use, but it could be a fun variety to have around the house for that next big cookout!

Outta the Park Hot & Spicy Barbecue Sauce (5/5)

18 March 2011 ~ 2 Comments

“it reminds me of the hot and spicy and ginger-sweet experience that I might experience while eating a plate of sushi – but without the nose stinging of the wasabi…”
