Review: Lil Hawks BBQ Sauce (4/5)

03 February 2012 ~ 1 Comment

This is a nicely executed thin yet sweet sauce from Georgia. The bottle appearance is good and simple. It’s a guy holding a man-sized fork that is impaling a massive slab of ribs.  It’s a very small batch sauce as evidenced by the lack of nutritional information a UPC symbol and an address – but [...]

Rufus Teague Honey Sweet (5/5)

25 September 2011 ~ 0 Comments

It’s got a combination of great ingredients, molasses-dark flavor, and soy/Worcestershire added for that extra savory umami dimension. Nice. A smooth, dark, molasses-based sauce with the same base as Rufus Teague’s Touch of Heat without as much A1-style tang making it a bit less complex – but still a very solid contender in the category. It’s still enough to be given my highest rating.

07 September 2011 ~ 2 Comments

First impressions are very important. And on a BBQ Sauce bottle, the packaging says a lot about your product. Labels are your most important sales tool when you can’t be there to sell the sauce yourself and talk about what’s inside the sauce.   Kitty’s Memphis Style Barbecue and Dip Sauce starts out on the right [...]
