Smokin Willie’s Shanghai Style BBQ Sauce (5/5)

Ah yes, another five star sauce.  I’ve been pretty much addicted to this one since it was sent to me and I’ve tried it on everything from Angus beef burgers (gifts from Omaha Steak Co) to mac & cheese to grilled chicken and grilled cheese sandwiches.  It’s a great all purpose sauce that I can’t [...]

Momm’s Famous BBQ Sauce (2/5)

It’s not inedible, it’s just different.  Almost like a combination between Russian dressing, a vodka pasta sauce, and BBQ Sauce, it’s not what I consider to be a natural complement to backyard grilling.  The mixture seemed to have gone slightly wrong somewhere and wow, I couldn’t even sit near the bottle too long with the [...]

Grandville’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce - Tropical (5/5)

I think a lot of companies get the execution of fruit-based BBQ sauces wrong.   The concept of eating barbecue sauce with fruit is a bit odd for some who are used to garden variety (no pun intended) sauces that don’t taste much like typical fruits and vegetables.

BBQ Sauce Giveaway: Mad Dog Sampler

I really love sauces that mix the mild with the mysterious, provide the sweet and a special treat, and add  thrill to my grill.  Sorry, I was just watching Captain Curt’s video again, and was caught up in a world of BBQ rhyme.
And if Captain Curt’s sauce represents the Don King of the BBQ [...]

BBQ’n Fools Signature Teriyaki Pepper (5/5)

Best way to describe this is a nice gooey teriyaki/soy sauce with a little bit of heat.  This asian-style sauce is far from the traditional KC-style BBQ sauce we’re all so used to seeing and trying.  For example, this doesn’t have any tomatoes or vinegar.  This Yaki sauce has served me well in kicking up [...]

Tassleberry Farm Strawberry BBQ Sauce (1/5)

Queue up track number 8 on the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour album (or just refresh your memory  here)…
Let me take you down, ’cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.

Grandville’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce - Original Spicy (3/5)

Your parents always told you to eat your veggies and the creator of this sauce must have listened to his/her parents.  The best way to describe it is to call it a tomato-based BBQ sauce loaded up with vegetables.  And although I gave it a mediocre score, I think that BBQ sauce freaks (like me) [...]

BBQ Stu’s Barbeque Sauce - Original (3/5)

Psalm 34:8 says “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”  The words “Psalm 34:8″ also sit on the side of this BBQ sauce.  I wonder how long it took these guys to comb through the psalms to find a fitting reference for their BBQ sauce?
I liked [...]

Salt Lick Original Recipe Bar-B-Que Sauce (5/5)

Not too long ago, my sister Julie and her husband Kevin brought me back a great sauce from a recent trip to Austin. They lived there for awhile and told me some of the cool things to do and have always had a sense of the local scene where ever they happened to live - [...]

Jackaroo Australian Style BBQ Sauce (1 of 5)

This should be quick. There was only one positive aspect of this particular sauce… and if you are smart, you can probably figure it out by the time I tell you.
Give up?

Out of Afrika Safari Select BBQ Sauce and Dip (1/5)

It’s funny when a company wins an award and then slaps a proud emblem “Multi Award Winner” on all of their brands. The only award this particular one should win is “Most Grotesque BBQ Sauce Ever.”

Negative One - The Smell
Smells like someone puked up sweet-and-sour-sauce.
Negative Two - The Taste
Just odd and unnatural. My daughter could [...]

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Sensous Slathering Sauce (5/5)

Clearly marketed towards big loud chopper owners, the references aren’t too strong enough to turn off those of us who aren’t bikers.
How many references to Harley’s can you find on this bottle? I found 5
The manufacturer describes this as “an aggressive, crimson-red, tomato-based sauce riddled with spices you can see, smell and taste,” and I’d [...]

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Lemon Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce (2/5)

Never buy barbecue sauce at Border’s book stores. For one, they are a friggin book store - they shouldn’t be selling barbecue sauce. And number two, it’s expensive. I picked up this large brown cylinder-jar of sauce in the hip neighborhood of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA - setting me back $8.99 for 18 ounces. Worth [...]
