Hoosier Daddy Sweet & Sassy Barbecue Sauce (4/5)

This sauce has an interesting, mustard/tomato compound flavor that is somewhat concealed by the aggressive spoon wielding boar on the label.  The sauce is a blend of a tomato-based and mustard based BBQ sauce, so you’re getting a hybrid sauce here, one that’s got enough flavor to not need any spicy ingredients to mix it […]

Bull’s Eye Steakhouse Barbecue Sauce with A1 (3/5)

“A bold blend that demands attention. Bring that classic A-1 ® sizzle to your burgers.” Bold statement. So for a sauce of this variety (a tribute sauce / cross marketed / hybrid sauce), the question is whether or not the BBQ sauce lives up to the name on the label. Although it does taste like they took Bull’s-eye and mixed it with a bit of A-1 steak sauce, I didn’t think the A1 steak sauce flavor pops out as much as it should. Like any Bull’s-eye variant, the texture is thick and rich and loves holding on the barbecued meat products. The way the sauce chars slightly when grilling is also a sight and taste to behold while other sauces simply thin up, burn off completely, or evaporate!

Oregon Dan’s Medium BBQ Sauce (5/5)

This is a sauce that jumps right out at you!  “A taste of Hawaii inside each bottle??”  Hold on, I must have that.  Of course I’m kidding, but with the chunks of pineapple swimming around the bottle, I can see how they could make such bold statements (and back them up).  It’s easily one of […]

Luna Mercato Blackberry Barbecue Sauce (3/5)

This blackberry sauce is on about the same level as Luna’s blueberry sauce. Flavor is good but average, nothing amazing, but a great choice for those who like fruit-infused BBQ sauces. Like mixing fruit and beer, there’s not too many folks who desire such a combination, but for those that do – Luna Mercato is a good choice. I just don’t find enough utility out of strawberry, blackberry, and blueberry flavored sauces.

Jake’s Inferno Barbecue Sauce (5/5)

Whoa, this stuff is smokin hot.  And it’s been hot with the judges too, winning a Golden Chile award and numerous other industry accolades.  It comes in my favorite form-factor the 16 oz wide mouth glass jar, it has a great, professional-looking label, and it tastes great too. It’s got a strong natural vibe with […]

Nephew’s Ghostly Pumpkin BBQ Sauce (5/5)

A 5 for originality, great flavor, use of ingredients, consistency, and packaging. I’d give it a 6 if I could. It’s not going to replace your classic standby BBQ sauce, but it’s worth trying – especially if you like pumpkin pie and grilling!

Auntie Heather’s House of BBQ Homemade BBQ Sauce Kit (4/5)

You can make your own sauce with this fun BBQ sauce kit. Without having to break out the measuring spoons or buying ingredients at the store, this kit lets you get your hands dirty in the kitchen with a minimal amount of effort – just add 3 cups of ketchup and reduce over heat for 20 minutes. The end result is a very rich, sweet, subtly smoke-infused sauce with loads of onion chunks and just enough heat to add complexity.

Whoop Ass Chipotle Barbecue Sauce (4/5)

Well, pardner, if this one doesn’t jump out at you, then you might as well be sleeping. Sometimes products like this are great and back up their pretentious presentation. The bottle is extremely over-styled – a tough, frilly-leather-jacket-wearing-cowboy who is double fisting two pistols shooting off people who don’t deserve to be buying BBQ sauce. Nice cowboy hat too, which I’ll probably give to the kids when the sauce is gone.

Saint A’s BAR-B-Q Sauce (3/5)

St. Augustine is a city in the northeast section of Florida that was founded in 1565 by Spanish explorer and admiral, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés.  It is the oldest continuously occupied European-established city and port in the United States.  St. Augustine lies in a region of Florida known as “The First Coast”, which extends from […]

Outta The Park BBQ Sauce (5/5)

It’s Real.  It’s Good.  It’s Gone! says creator Scott Granai on the bottle of his Outta The Park sauce.   And I’d have to agree.  The magic ingredient here is ginger –  giving what could be a fairly average sauce a unique Asian flair that reminds of a flavor I may have had once in a […]
