This week’s review is on the Large Infinity Series Grill Dome Kamado.

The Grill Dome Kamado is an all-in-one ceramic charcoal grill that allows you to smoke, bake, grill and sear food. The Grill Dome Kamado allows you to cook at temperatures of 175°F to 750°F+. The temperature of the Grill Dome is controlled by adjusting the lower sliding damper and the upper pivoting steel disk vent. The upper disk vent comes in the same color as your grill.

This grill is made of a TERAPEX Ceramic that is composed of 7 natural and pure ceramics. This ceramic is harder and thicker and can withstand hotter temperatures of over 1200°F. Grill Dome ceramics are also up to twice as thick as their competitors (1 1/2 inch thick walls).

The Grill Dome is made in India and comes with a 5 year warranty on gaskets and a lifetime warranty on the rest of the grill. This grill has an 18 inch grill diameter, cooking area of 260 sq. inches and weighs 200 pounds. This grill also has a nice amount of headroom for cooking whole chickens or even a 30 pound turkey.

The Grill Dome comes in 5 colors and the exterior has a baked on enamel which Grill Dome states will eliminate the chance of crazing. Each unit goes into the oven 3 times.

Grill Dome offers 304 stainless steel hardware standard on all models, so you don’t have to worry about any rust on the Grill Dome Kamado. Grill Dome also has a good amount of accessories you can get for your kamado grill, such as the Grill Extender and the Indirect Cooking Rack.

A feature that I really like on the Grill Dome is its Featherlite hinge. The Featherlite hinge allows you to lift the lid with just a few fingers. In my opinion Grill Dome offers one of the best hinges on the market today.

Below is the video portion of my review as well as my first cook on the Grill Dome. (I don’t normally do video reviews, but I thought I would branch out a little for this review.) 🙂

Below are pictures of the Large Infinity Series Grill Dome Kamado after I placed it into the mobile cart.

For my second cook on the Grill Dome I decided to grill some pork chops. I rubbed the pork chops in my go to pork rub, Killer Hogs The BBQ Rub.

After that I poured a little bit of lump charcoal onto the lump I had left from my first cook. Then I placed a fire starter into the middle of the lump and lit it. Once the temperature of the grill was up a bit, I adjusted the lower sliding damper and the upper vent so I could cook around 375-400°F.

Once the grill was ready, I placed the pork chops on the grill to cook.

Once the pork chops were done cooking I brought them into the house to eat for dinner. My family and I really enjoyed them. They were very juicy and moist and had a great flavor to them as well.

For my third and final cook I decided to do a nice low and slow pork butt cook.

Again, I used my go to pork rub, Killer Hogs The BBQ Rub. Once I rubbed the 5 pound pork butt I wrapped it in plastic wrap and placed it in the fridge overnight.

I got up bright and early the next morning to cook the pork butt.

I poured in some lump charcoal, placed in the Grill Dome Indirect Cooking Rack and lit a fire starter in the middle of the lump. Once the lump was lit a little I placed in my foil wrapped clay saucer that I use as my heat diffuser on my Grill Dome. I then adjusted the lower sliding damper and the upper vent to help get to the desired temp of 250°F.

Once the Grill Dome was up to 250°F I put on the 5 pound pork butt.

The Grill Dome held rock steady at 250°F for the full cook.

At around the 10 hour mark the pork butt reached an internal temperature of 195°F. I removed the pork butt from the Grill dome, wrapped it in foil and then placed it in a cooler to rest for a few hours before pulling.

After the pork butt had rested for a couple hours I removed it from the foil and pulled it. As you can see in the pictures below the pulled pork had a really nice colored bark and smoke ring to it. It was very delicious and pretty much gone right after I took these pictures. It was some good eats for sure!

Final Thoughts

I am highly impressed with the great quality of the Grill Dome Kamado. I can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into designing this ceramic grill.

A nice thing I like about kamado grills is the fact that they are so diverse. You can do low and slow cooks as well as high heat cooks on them. I love that I can smoke a pork butt low and slow one day and the next day grill a pizza at over 700°F. They’re a wonderful all-in-one cooker like I mentioned above.

Another great thing about the Grill Dome Kamado is that the thick and insulating ceramics hold heat more efficiently allowing for much more reliable temperature control while consuming far less fuel. I didn’t even go through 3/4 a bag of Ozark Oak Lump Charcoal during my review. That’s really good in my opinion!

I also love the blue color and the 304 stainless steel hardware on this grill. It just looks so sharp and won’t rust!

Like I mentioned above, one of the main features that stands out on this grill is its Featherlite hinge. I can’t get over how easy the lid is to open with two fingers and how very light the lid feels with this great hinge.

The Grill Dome also feels very sturdy in the mobile cart and the wood side tables came in handy to set plates or my other cooking tools and gadgets. The wheels look and feel heavy duty and the front locking casters were a nice feature too.

If you’re in the market for a new kamado grill, I highly recommend looking into the Large Infinity Series Grill Dome Kamado!

Excellent review – I’ve had a Grill Dome for over 2 years and love it.

  2. Great job as always Jay. Finally had a chance to sit down and watch the whole video! I liked how we could see your reflection in the shiny Grill Dome. Hope your weekend is going great so far.

    • Thanks so much B! I really appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed my review. My weekend is going great. Hope you’re having a great weekend as well. Talk to you soon bro. Thanks again! 🙂

  3. I am looking for something to cook low and slow. Like your 10 hr pork butt, 14 hr briskets and7 hr ribs. Can you maintain the temp for that long w/o adding more charcoal and if if you must add charcoal, how do you do it with the heat deflector in place?

    • Thanks for the question Roland! You should have no problems at all with maintaining a constant temp with the Grill Dome Kamado Grill. Once you get the vents where they need to be to lock the temp in you want, it will stay steady at that temp. Also be sure to add enough lump charcoal in the beginning for the length of cook you will be doing. When I’m cooking low and slow I prefer to cook at around 250°F. I always make sure to put the amount of lump charcoal I think I will need for each cook. It doesn’t hurt to put a little more because you can always use the leftover charcoal for your next cook. Hope that answers your question. 🙂 Thanks for leaving a comment!
