Since I’m on a ultra low-carb diet, I’ve had the chance to check out two low-carb BBQ sauces and one low-carb ketchup. That and recently found out that A1 Steak Sauce is actually a low-carb product, too.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Walden Farms Sugar-free ketchup.

I realize this isn’t BBQ sauce but it happens to be very tasty. Not quite as thick as your typical ketchup but there is no mistaking the flavor. It’s definitely ketchup. You can mix it with spices for some extra kick or use it plain with fries.

Guy’s Award Winning Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce – Smokey Garlic

I tried this before the original flavor and love it! Decent kick. Good consistency. Robust flavor overall. I used it on baked chicken cutlets and it didn’t handle being in the oven as well as Sweet Baby Ray’s original BBQ sauce. (My wife isn’t on a low-carb diet so she gets the real stuff! Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce is excellent! Definitely highly recommended for those who aren’t concerned about carbs.)However, it’s great for spreading on hot food and dipping. When I think of BBQ sauce, the flavor of Guy’s Award Winning Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce Smokey Garlic comes to mind before the original version.

This was was a touch to sweet for me and it didn’t have enough kick. But, it’s pretty good considering it’s sugar-free. However, it wouldn’t be my first choice for sugar-free BBQ sauce. I’d stick with the Smokey Garlic version.

Since I like the Walden Farms sugar-free ketchup I definitely plan to try their BBQ sauce. I’ll email you with my impressions after I’ve bought some.

Thanks Robert – we look forward to hearing more from you!

The BBQ sauces from The Stirring Spoon are made delicious with all natural ingredients and low in sugar and sodium. The Smokin’ Agave has 4g of sugar per tablespoon and only 35 mg of sodium. On the website you can find the ingredients and a list of stores, farmers markets, etc. This sauce is also gluten free.
