Oregon Dan’s Medium BBQ Sauce (5/5)

This is a sauce that jumps right out at you!  “A taste of Hawaii inside each bottle??”  Hold on, I must have that.  Of course I’m kidding, but with the chunks of pineapple swimming around the bottle, I can see how they could make such bold statements (and back them up).  It’s easily one of my favorites in 2011.  It’s got a great pineapple peppery flavor, sweetened primarily by agave nectar (the same plant they make tequila from, using a different process), and it contains no glutens or high fructose corn syrup. Red jalapenos add spice and color to the already natural appearance and complexion of this well put together sauce.  Surprise ingredient?  How about some Sherry Cooking Wine…

Aroma

Primary smells are jalapeno, pineapple, and of course bbq sauce.

Taste

Almost like the best sweet and sour sauce you’ve ever had. I could make me some chicken fingers and dip them in this stuff all day.

Consistency

Thick like chunky salsa – colorful and natural.  It’s something that I wish i put together and sold myself.

Ingredients

Organic agave nectar, pineapple juice, tomato paste, onion, pineapple, distilled white vinegar, distilled apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, sherry cooking wine, food starch, red pepper flake, vanilla extract, spices, salt.
