Element Portable Gas Grill by Fuego

For this week’s review I was sent the Element Portable Gas Grill from Rita Mogilanski at Fuego.

The Element Portable Grill is a compact gas grill weighing in at around 15 lbs and has 159 sq inches of grill space and an enamel coated cast iron steel cooking grate. This grill is made in Taiwan and features a single 8,000 BTU stainless steel burner that runs on either a 16.4 or 14.1 disposable LP tank and has a cooking temperature range of 350-650° F.

The Element Portable Grill has a powder coated steel finish and aluminum locking legs that fold into a carry handle for easy transporting and a red travel band that locks the lid in place.

Once I had the grill assembled, which was very easy since I only had to attach the handle to the lid, set the cooking grate on the grill and install the regulator kit into the burner inlet (about 3 minutes tops), it was time to do some grilling.

First, I lowered the removable (dishwasher safe) round drip tray. Then I attached the 16.4 oz Coleman propane cylinder in place and made sure the control knob was in the off position. I removed the lid and then pushed the control knob in and turned it to the Start/High position. I immediately pushed the red ignition button several times, so it clicked each time and noticed the burner was lit by looking down through the cooking grate. I let the grill heat up about 10 minutes and then it was time to grill some boneless chicken breasts for dinner.

Once the grill was ready I turned the control knob slightly below the high position and then put on the chicken and placed the lid back in place.

It didn’t take long at all and it was time to flip the chicken. Once the chicken was almost finished cooking it was time to slather on some BBQ sauce.

After a few more minutes the chicken was done and I removed it from the grill to take inside to eat. The chicken was very moist and the sauce gave it a great flavor.

For the next cook I decided on grilling some Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage Patties. My family and I have really enjoyed eating these lately. It’s also nice to change it up every once in a while too.

I followed the same steps as above and once the grill was ready to go I placed on the sausage patties.

I had the control knob set to high and these bad boys cooked up pretty fast thanks to the cast iron cooking grates with their superb heat transfer.

Once the sausage patties were finished cooking it was time to take them inside the house to eat.

We had some baked beans and macaroni salad to go along with the yummy sausage patties. It was a great dinner with family that night!

Final Thoughts

The Element Portable Gas Grill was a fun and handy grill to use. One of the great things about it is the fact that it’s very portable, so not only can you use this in your backyard like I did, but you can also take it with you camping, to the beach or to the park. Plus with it being so compact with its locking legs folded up, it doesn’t take up much room at all when you store it. (measures 13.75 x 12.75 x 10 inches)

Something that I figured out pretty quickly while using this grill for the first time was that the outside edge of the grill (where the burner unit runs) seems to run a tad hotter than the middle of the grill itself. I only really noticed it on the chicken since I had the one boneless breast in the very middle of the grill. There really wasn’t much difference in the cook time of that chicken breast compared to the other two, maybe an extra minute or so.

    That looks like a really slick little grill! I’d probably consider getting one but I just picked up a real bargain on a new-in-box Weber Q 120 on Craigslist… I have it running wide open right now on a 16oz propane tank to see how long it will go on a full cylinder…

        Approximately 2.5 hours +/- 10 mins running full bore. I fired it up Thursday for 2 hours before I went to work. Came home and fired it up again and it had gone out before the end of the third hour but it was still at 350° or so. I’m pretty confident with the 2.5 hour estimate.

        • Thanks for the update John. That’s about the same amount of time that the person mentioned at the website link I posted above. I’m guessing the tank would last around the same amount of time on this grill as well with the control knob set to high. Thanks again for letting me know how it went.
