World Harbors Australian Style, Sweet Ginger Bar-B (5/5)

Last time I reviewed a World Harbors’ product, it was their spin-off buccaneer blends.  My lesson learned: never buy BBQ sauce from Christmas Tree Shops. The “mesquite” BBQ sauce was horrible and had a weird aftertaste.  This sauce, however, this sauce was great for a Christmas dinner atop a Delmonico steak.

Smell

very strong sweet ginger smell with hints of garlic (or as we say in Boston “gahhlic”)

Taste

nice dark, sweet ginger flavor with roasted garlic.  Very tangy and salty and sweet, all at the same time.

Consistency

Thick, thick thick.  This stuff could be flung onto your front door, and then you could go to work, and then come home and it would still be making it’s way down the door.  It’s gloppy and sticky and although it starts with High Fructose Corn Syrup, it’s taste is quite good.  You might call it glopulous!

Ingredients

High Fructose Corn Syrup, Soy Sauce ~ (Water, Soybeans, Wheat & Salt), Vinegar, Water, Sherry, Modified Food Starch, Molasses, Sea Salt, Toasted Sesame Seeds, Garlic*, Sesame Oil, Caramel Color, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate (As A Preservative), Ground Ginger, Sodium Benzoate (As A Preservative), Cayenne Pepper*, Natural Flavor.
*Dried (Contains Soy, Wheat And May Contain Trace Amounts Of Peanut)

Sauce Score

5.    Extremely tasty.  Does the job.  Made a great steak even better.  I could see this being excellent on swordfish, pork, chicken, and maybe even as a veggie dip.  Yum.   – It’s an almost Teriyaki style sauce – inspired by Australia according to the label.  I can definitely agree that there is an Asian influence here… but i would have guessed China or Japan.
