Four Rivers Smoke House Barbecue Sauce (2/5)
This sauce from Orlando Florida, has a label thatstarts out with a description that “John Rivers recruited three friends to help a local family facing increasing medical bills resulting from their young daughter’s battle with cancer” … but it doesn’t go on to say how this sauce and its profits directly and continually contribute to any notable cancer societies… sorry, it does sound like a notable cause… maybe you could back it up with some kind of guaranteed percentage that goes to charity or something.
The sauce itself is a bit odd tasting to me, and somewhat unremarkable. Appearance is decent, normally but not natural (lots of specks of spices) or unique . Aroma almost smells like a marinara sauce… very tomato buttery. The flavor is close to this as well. This would make a great sauce if it was a bit thicker and maybe would taste better if marketed as a hybrid/spaghetti BBQ sauce – personally I’m not a huge fan of that style. Ingredients are fairly standard and include HFCS and Worcestershire as well as butter and honey.
