Grumpy’s Bold XX BBQ Sauce (5/5)
In late 2004 Jeff started up Grumpy’s with two sauces: Grumpy’s Bold XX (spicy) and Not So Bold (sweet). He describes it as a KC style BBQ sauce, but that doesn’t do enough to describe what’s happening in this bottle.
The way I see it… there tends to be 2 kinds of people. There are those who like there sauce hot, and some who like their sauce mild. Ah… but for those who like the heat right in the middle, you will love Grumpy’s Bold XX. Strong brown sugar caramel like flavoring starts you out and fades quickly into a warm cayenne pepper and hot mustard afterglow. This is a very flavorful sauce that should be cranking up the all natural marketing on the product – because the ingredients are all excellent and the flavor is still great. I went through this bottle very quickly – and for me – that means a lot.
