Spring Valley Farms Sweet and Spicy Chipotle BBQ Sauce (3/5)

This sauce had an average yet agreeable flavor and a slight back of the mouth heat that intensified with each bite… like a drop of water that keeps working and working and working on a little piece of rock until you have the Grand Canyon… Well, it’s not that hot – but it does get spicier the more you eat.  When heated up, I also notice the heat gets activated faster – the magic of grill bringing to life the latent energy within this sauce.  A good sweet semi-hot chipotle sauce you might want to check out.

Aroma

Standard fare tomato vinegar with chipotle turbo power boost!

Taste

Good.  Most dominant flavors are chipotle, ketchup, and vinegar.  Not smoky at all to my tastebuds.

Texture

Nicely balanced.  Thick enough to stick to meats well.

Ingredients

Catsup, Brown Sugar, Honey, Distilled Vinegar, Water, Worcestershire Sauce, Barbecue Seasoning, Garlic, Chipotle Peppers, Spices, Chile Powder, Natural Mesquite Smoke Flavor

Gotta smack ya on the All Natural on the label… a lot of folks guilty of this but please don’t stretch the definition of all-natural a bit with corn syrup containing catsup/ketchup.  As a wise friend of mine said … corn syrup is not available in nature.

Background    (from vendor)

We are located right on the Oklahoma / Texas border at the base of the beautiful Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and Mountain Range.  We originally started our Gourmet Food Business in Oklahoma and Texas because we love good food.  Out here in the heartland of America, our passion for delicious high quality food is as deep as our love of Football and the Great Outdoors.  The only trouble was, there just weren’t any high quality all natural gourmet foods available in our local area.

We got tired of buying and tasting the same old bland grocery store style salsa, barbecue sauces and jams.  We knew we had some great old family recipes that everyone loved.  But they were time consuming to make and we didn’t have the facilities to produce the good stuff that we grew up eating.
