This week’s review is on the DOT probe-style alarm thermometer from ThermoWorks.
The DOT is a very simple to use, 2 button alarm thermometer that reads temperatures up to 572°F. It comes with a 4 inch Pro-Series High Temp Probe that withstands temperatures of up to 700°F, which is great for broiling or grilling.
The DOT has molded seals and commercial grade plastic housing making it resistant to splashes, spills, and messy hands.
On the back of the DOT is an on/off button, tilt-out stand for counter use and 2 strong magnets that make it very useful for temporarily mounting on a metal grill or oven.
On the front of the DOT are 2 buttons that raise and lower the alarm temperature up and down. Just set it to the desired temperature you want and the alarm sounds once it reaches that temp.
The DOT has a nice clean display with easy to read large digits. It displays the current temp and the alarm temp.
For this review I decided to cook a turkey breast over at my parents house for a family get together.
I set the temperature on the DOT so the alarm would sound once the turkey breast reached an internal temperature of 165°F.
Once the oven was preheated I put the turkey into the oven and slid the temperature probe into the turkey breast.
Once the internal temperature of the turkey breast reached 165°F, the alarm sounded on the DOT.
I then removed the turkey breast from the oven to rest a little before slicing into it.
After I let the turkey breast rest a bit, I sliced the turkey with my parents electric knife. The turkey was super moist, very delicious and everyone in my family highly enjoyed it!
Like I mentioned above, the DOT is very simple to use and I liked that a lot about this product. Sometimes you just don’t feel like messing with a bunch of complicated settings or buttons and just want something you can set really fast and get to cooking.
I feel that ThermoWorks has released another great quality product that will fit in well in my arsenal of other wonderful products from this company.
